Luke Jones

Luke is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Youth Radio. He works with reporters and production staff to ensure the best quality programming and works with Youth Radio's outreach coordinators to recruit youth. Luke also helps to teach youth interviewing skills, digital audio editing, and how to write for broadcast. He writes much of the show in addition to co-hosting and filing reports during the week.

In addition to directing and hosting the Youth Show, Luke also hosts a 5-minute environmental news segment on KPFT-FM in Houston, Texas called Eco Beat, environmental news that matters to you. Eco Beat focuses on a wide range of topics within it's environmental scope. This includes the latest local environmental news as well as stories that focus on everything from living green to conservation of wildlife.

Before his two-year stretch at Youth Radio, Luke served as a general assignment reporter for the KPFT Local News at 4:30 p.m. He has also filled-in for shows, engineered sound boards, and hosted a number of Open Journals.

Luke's experience in local news includes coverage of events around town, interviews with national experts on issues like climate change and alternative fuels as well as local and state officials.

In his free time Luke enjoys playing tennis, badminton, and swimming and volunteers for animal adoption organization Adopt-A-Cat. He attends Challenge Early College High School in Houston and hopes to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
